The Use Of Radio Microphones At The Memorial Theatre
Channel 70 863-865MHz
863-865MHz (Channel 70) is available for licence exempt use of radio mics in the UK. This bandwidth can be used free of charge throughout the UK. Equipment capable of operating on Channel 70 is a viable choice for amateur radio mic users, although the limited 2MHz of bandwidth available will not normally enable use of more than 4 x systems. There is some concern about interference from 4G mobile devices operating on nearby frequencies. This equipment is therefore not recommended for professional users.
Due to the proximity to other venues and the G4 telecoms masts at the rear of the venue We recommend that you don’t use CH 70 in the venue.
The following should be noted:
CH70 is deregulated, free to use for wireless radio mic operation.
Generally, it is only possible to squeeze a maximum of four radio systems into this space without them interfering with each other.
It is shared space – if there are other users close by there could be a clash of frequencies causing interference.
Directly below 863MHz there is 4G mobile phone data transmission, there is no buffer so it is possible that some users may experience interference at the lower end of Channel 70 (around 863MHz).
The Frome Memorial Theatre take no responsibility for interference on CH70
